Rick Greenleaf specializes in complex and large-scale construction dispute resolution matters across a range of industries. He has arbitrated over 200 construction cases through award and has served on cases with claims in excess of $600 million and projects with values exceeding $6 billion dollars. He is currently serving as Chairman on a Dispute Review Board presiding over the Central I-70 expansion project in Colorado. Rick's extensive experience covers all areas of construction ADR including arbitration, early neutral evaluation, dispute review boards and mediation.
Rick has been involved with construction law since the mid 1980's. He began his construction law practice as a trial lawyer, litigating large-scale construction and energy cases on the Texas gulf coast. His practice expanded from a regional to a national practice and he has now worked on construction projects in 43 states as well as internationally.
In 2001, shortly after moving from Texas to Colorado, Rick co-founded Berg Hill Greenleaf & Ruscitti, a full service law firm with offices in Denver, Boulder, Los Angeles and Cheyenne, WY. Rick was instrumental in growing the firm's Construction Practice Group as well as developing his ADR practice.
Rick retired from BHGR in 2019 to launch his own practice, Greenleaf ADR, where he focuses exclusively on construction arbitration and other forms of ADR for the construction industry. He is based just outside of Denver, Colorado but works on cases throughout the U.S., as well as internationally.
In addition to his practice, Rick is active in the construction law community nationally, frequently speaking and writing on the subject. He is celebrating his 30th year on the American Arbitration Association's Construction Panel and was the founding co-chair of the College of Commercial Arbitrators Construction Arbitration Section.
Linda D. Smith is Rick Greenleaf's Legal Assistant and she supports all areas of his alternative dispute resolution practice including timekeeping, bookkeeping & invoicing, document management, maintaining his calendar, coordinating conference calls with parties, and other tasks as needed for each of his cases.
